Sun Pharma was the biggest loser among Sensex components, plunging 3.94 per cent, followed by Tata Steel falling 3.12 per cent.

Reliance Infrastructure has gained nearly 2% at Rs 845. ACC, Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra are up around 1.5% each at Rs 602, Rs 2,539 and Rs 545, respectively.
Banking, realty, energy and capital goods stocks were the major gainers today. The Sensex touched a high of 15,106, and finally ended with a gain of 551 points at 15,050. The BSE Realty index soared 7.3% (367 points) to 5,367, and the Bankex zoomed 6% (425 points) to 7,447.
However, profit-taking towards the close saw the the index pare gains and touch a low of 14,416. The Sensex finally ended with a nominal gain of 49 points at 14,450. The BSE Realty index surged 2% to 5,044, and the Bankex moved up 1.3% to 6,746. On the other hand, the Metal and Power indices slipped 1% each to 12,243 and 2,573, respectively.
In the Sensex kitty, ITC turned star performer by surging 2.45 per cent, followed by NTPC rising 2.19 per cent.
Unabated selling in realty, financial and capital goods stocks saw the index slide to a low of 14,687 - down 406 points from the previous close. The BSE Realty index slumped 8% (447 points) to 5,164. The Bankex tanked 5% (368 points) to 6,903, and the Capital Goods index shed 3.7% (468 points) at 12,139.
The NSE Nifty was down 23 points at 4,529. The market breadth was marginally negative - out of 2,749 stocks traded, 1,420 declined, 1,238 advanced and 91 were unchanged on Wednesday. The BSE Bankex dropped 2.2% to 7,271, and the Reatly index slipped 1.3% to 5,611. On the other hand, the BSE IT and Healthcare indices moved up over 1% each to 3,814 and 4,280, respectively.
Significant weakness in banking, metal and technology stocks saw the index slide to a low of 15,125 - down 455 points from the day's high. The Sensex recouped some losses but eventually ended with a loss of 292 points at 15,212. The NSE Nifty shed 68 points to settle at 4,552.
The market breadth was fairly bullish - out of 2,776 stocks traded, 1,736 moved up, 971 declined and the rest were unchanged on Monday. The BSE Realty index surged 5.3% to 5,799. The Bankex advanced over 4% to 7,702, and the Oil & Gas index surged 3% to 10,437. The NSE Nifty moved up 91 points to end at 4,620.
Rate hike move by the Reserve Bank of India triggered a fresh round of selling. The index tumbled to a low of 13,727 - down 622 points from the previous close. The Sensex finally ended with a loss of 557 points at 13,792.
Sensex opened with a negative gap of 325 points at 14,452. The index barely managed to touch a high of 14,484, and then started slipping deeper into red.
The BSE Realty index soared 6% to 4,901, and the Bankex surged almost 5% to 6,183. The NSE Nifty moved up 169 points to settle at 4,157.

In the Sensex kitty on Wednesday, Tata Motors emerged as the top loser falling 3.01 per cent, followed by Vedanta shedding 2.92 per cent. Other laggards include HUL, Kotak Bank, NTPC, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, Hero MotoCorp, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, HDFC, IndusInd Bank and PowerGrid, falling up to 1.77 per cent.
The BSE Bankex and the FMCG index gained over 4% each at 7904 and 2384, respectively. The market breadth was bullish - out of over 2,600 scrips traded, over 1,500 logged gains today. ICICI Bank advanced nearly 6% to Rs 809. Ranbaxy was up over 5% at Rs 484. Jaiprakash Associates moved up nearly 5% to Rs 232.
